Martin. You're quite right - different members have different wants/needs from the shed and those wants/needs will, in part at least, influence the value they place on the shed. In the end - is the subscription for membership worth it for that member. Undoubtedly there maybe some members who will struggle with subscriptions and I don't have a problem with the shed executive offering help to those. However dual grades of membership would not be the best approach in my view - the added complexity would be a burden best avoided. Clive L

No argument with what you're saying Alan. The point I was trying to get over was that ideally subs should cover the shed's running costs. All the points you've mentioned should not, in my view, be used to subsidise subscriptions. Revenue raised by those actions should, for example, be used for improvements to the shed's facilities e.g.bigger shed. It may be that subscriptions will never fully cover running costs but that doesn't mean we shouldn't strive towards that objective. The more members pay up front for the benefits the shed provides for them the less erosion there will be on the revenue from our fund-raising efforts. In turn this will allow us to create a better New Milton Men's Shed. Clive Lawrence

That's a useful update Danny - thanks. Regarding the social topic - I'm looking forward to meeting fellow 'shedders' after a long time of isolation. Hopefully all of your tentative dates mentioned will be realised.
